Omega-3 fatty acids help support many systems in the body, including skin & coat health, kidney function, brain and overall nervous system health, and the immune system. What changes should I expect to see in my dog or cat with Welactin? While many of Welactin’s important functions are at work inside your pet’s body, you may notice an improvement in your pet’s activity level, attitude, appetite, alertness, and general appearance.
Welactin® Equine
What is Welactin Equine? Welactin Equine is a rich source of the Omega-3 fatty acids EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), derived from cold-water fish, supporting overall equine wellness. Welactin Equine has been refined for quality and purity. What are Omega-3 fatty acids? Omega-3 fatty acids are the "good health" fatty acids. The two predominant long chain Omega-3 fatty acids are EPA and DHA. These long chain fatty acids provided by Welactin Equine are more readily available for use in the body and provide more benefits than short chain fatty acids supplied by plant-based products, such as flax seed oil or corn oil. What is the difference between Welactin Equine and plant-based products (corn oil, flax seed oil, etc)? Welactin Equine provides long chain Omega-3 fatty acids, including EPA and DHA, derived from fish oils. These long chain Omega-3 fatty acids have shown health benefits in multiple species including horses. Fatty acids derived from plant-based sources such as corn, soy, flax and rice bran contain Omega-6 and/or short chain Omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-6 fatty acids are considered to be pro-inflammatory which is undesirable. The short chain Omega-3 fatty acids provided in plant-based products may not provide the same health benefits as long chain fatty acids because the conversion of short chain to long chain is inefficient in the horse. Therefore, it is more effective to directly provide long chain Omega-3 fatty acids in the diet with Welactin Equine. How can Welactin Equine help my horse? The benefits of Welactin Equine go beyond just skin and coat. Omega-3 fatty acids may support many systems in the body including immune, respiratory, and cardiovascular, as well as supporting healthy joint function. Specific benefits have been noted in the reproductive health and fitness of breeding stallions and gestating/lactating mares. Research has shown that supplementation of horses in training may support the metabolism of energy, as well as maintain healthy blood flow and transport of oxygen during exercise. What changes should I expect to see in my horse with Welactin Equine? While many of Welactin’s important functions are at work inside your horse’s body, you may notice an improvement in your horse’s activity level, attitude, appetite, alertness, and general appearance. How is Welactin Equine administered? Using the provided scoop, top dress feed with 1-2 scoops per day or as directed by your veterinarian.
